Fri. Apr. 28, 2017: Essay Revision/Submission

Today, you worked on finalizing your essay. It needs to be submitted by the end of the day. If you are not here, you can email it to me. My email address is on your course outline; however, I am also placing it below:

You received the essay questions prior to the break and have had a week to work on it. In other words, there should be no excuse for not handing something in. I cannot evaluate or help you with a zero. I can with a rough piece of work.

Today, I handed out your essay assignment. I have pasted it below. It is due on Friday.

Essay Assignment: Lord of the Flies

Using the novel Lord of the Flies, answer one of the four following choices using a five paragraph essay format.

a.       In the novel Lord of the Flies, Golding uses the allegory of personality (Id, Ego, Superego) to explain man’s civility (or lack thereof). How does the allegory of personality demonstrate itself in this novel and what is its purpose?

OR

b.      There are a number of differences between the novel, Lord of the Flies, and the 1963 feature film. What was the filmmaker’s purpose in making these changes? Do these changes enhance or diminish the message of the novel? Support this with evidence.

OR

c.       There are a number of differences between the 1963 feature film Lord of the Flies, and the 1990 feature film. What was the filmmaker’s purpose in making these changes? Do these changes enhance or diminish the message of the novel? Support this with evidence.

Keep in mind that the essay must be 12 point, Times New Roman, double-spaced, zero spacing and in a revised form using MLA expectations. Further, when doing your “work cited” page, in order to practice this skill, I want you to identify the chapter the quotes came from (see me for help). It must be save on the computer in your “ELA B30” folder. Call this file “Lord Essay.”
